Luxurious, Intimate Destination Queenstown Wedding: Anna & Jon

The intimate destination wedding ceremony for 60 close family and friends was held at remote Moke Lake in Queenstown, where a stunning custom made mirrored archway with a silk floral canopy stood beautifully framing the stunning location. Acrylic ghost chairs, mirrored plinths and an abundance of decadent fresh aisle florals completed the luxury set up. Guests commented that the ceremony design took their breath away!

I first met with the lovely Anna and Jon over a year ago. Both travel extensively for work, and are ‘workaholics’, hence the need for a Wedding Planner. Anna and Jon’s vision was to have an elegant, intimate and timeless wedding.  A chic all white colour palette, and mirrored elements was part of the brief. We were so pleased that after months of planning, the perfect day came to fruition for their luxurious destination wedding in Queenstown.

“We met through work and bonded through both being workaholics and our shared love of dumplings. The rest, as they say, was history.  We got engaged on a beach in Fiji on our first overseas holiday together. This was after a particularly awkward dinner where Anna would not stop asking when I might be thinking about a popping the question. As a Project Manager by trade, Anna wanted a specific date.”

Anna looked simply stunning in her hand beaded dress weighing 25 kilos – not an easy outfit to ‘rock’ when you’re as petite as Anna is. The custom-made Steven Khalil two-piece gown featured heavily detailed embroidery, and the dress allowed for three different looks. Steven’s designs are renowned for their elegance and beauty, combining classical elements of bygone eras with a contemporary edge.

After the ceremony, guests were taken from Moke Lake for drinks at the QT Hotel, and then by coach to Jacks Point Clubhouse for the romantic evening reception. An abundance of candles, white florals, cylinder & mirrored vases,  glass beaded chargers, white linen, and acrylic stationery pieces reflected a truly elegant setting.

We draped contemporary chic ghost chivari chairs (named after the coastal Italian town of Chiavari) with white chiffon fabric providing a graceful elegant look.

The decadent and impressive modern white luxe cake with carefully crafted floral layers stood pride of place lakefront, and looked far too good to cut into!

Mini white bottles of champagne, and small white favour boxes featuring delicious macarons were a lovely treat for guests to take home at the end of the evening.

The dance floor opened with Jon and Anna performing an impressive first dance framed with flickering pillar candles.  They’d taken dance lessons at Auckland Dance Company, which they really enjoyed, and given how talented they were, should continue with as a hobby!

Jan Holland from DJ4U turned up the volume, and guests partied into the night. (WINNERS OF ‘OUTSTANDING ENTERTAINMENT (DJ)’ AT THE 2019 WEDDING INDUSTRY AWARDS)
